Introduction — The Cannabis Pragmatist | Volume 1, Edition 1
Hi there, my name is Jamie Warm.
A fellow cannabis journeyman. And this is the Cannabis Pragmatist. It’s a newsletter that serves the cannabis community by offering insights, highlights, and a personal perspective of the industry. I will of course always include our current cannabis real estate listings; in case you’re feeling spicy.
For an expedited background, I am by no means one of the original back-to-landers of the 60’s and 70’s. But as the story goes, around 2005 I was given 100 pounds by one of those old-timers. He told my comrade Rocco and I to get off the mountain and come back with the money. We did that a few times, and eventually opened a dispensary, bought a farm, and met our co-founder Joshua Keats. Together we started Henry’s Original in 2014 in honor of those old-timers that put us on. They were the legends.
And here we are, slugging out a new legal industry. It’s been a sobering experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world. From the black market to the board room, we’re still marching at Henry’s, doing everything we can to gain an edge, stay relevant, and live up to the ideal of a genuine cannabis company.
Meanwhile starting in 2023, I’ve had the opportunity to spearhead a real estate practice at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) based out of Santa Barbara County. With a new friend and real estate business partner, Joe Ramos and I developed Zaki Properties which is the newly formed cannabis division at BHHS. As the industry is starting to mature, we’re leveraging our experience to match best-in-class real estate assets with best-in-class operators by representing buyers and sellers throughout California.
